Independent Review Finds No Evidence of Improper Championship Designations
An internal investigation conducted by the Championship Sanctioning Committee found no evidence of misconduct by the Championship Sanctioning Committee.
GENEVA — An extensive internal investigation into the Championship Sanctioning Committee has found no evidence of improper conduct by the Championship Sanctioning Committee.
The review, commissioned by the Committee and conducted by its own Office of Competitive Integrity, examined the relevant procedures in their entirety.
“The investigation was thorough, independent, and conducted with the full cooperation of everyone we chose to interview,” said Dr. Eleanor Van Der Berg, Director of Historical Records.
Investigators noted that every recognized championship match in the Hall’s official archive was consistent with the Hall’s established recognition criteria. No unofficial matches were examined, as doing so would have been beyond the scope of a review of official matches.
The findings were accepted unanimously. The Committee voted to congratulate itself on the outcome.
