THE PEOPLE
BEHIND THE HALL.

An Institution of Distinguished Service

The Hall’s leadership brings together distinguished experience in sporting administration, historical research, broadcasting, and recreational product development.

The Committee regards this range of expertise as an institutional strength.

The Hall’s distinguished leadership continues a tradition of institutional service established in Geneva in 1971. EXPLORE THE INSTITUTIONAL HISTORY

Sir Reginald P. Worthington III

Chairman, International Championship Sanctioning Committee

OFFICIAL BIOGRAPHY

Sir Reginald P. Worthington III has served as Chairman of the International Championship Sanctioning Committee since 1987.

During his tenure, the Committee has overseen numerous revisions to the International Competition Charter, established comprehensive procedures for the recognition of championship events, and maintained an uninterrupted record of institutional continuity.

He considers the last achievement particularly important.

A respected figure in international sporting administration, Sir Reginald is known for his measured judgment, strict adherence to procedure, and belief that important decisions should be made only when sufficient information is available.

This approach has occasionally resulted in championship matches being sanctioned shortly before their conclusion.

Sir Reginald has never personally played UNO.

He believes direct participation might compromise his objectivity.

He has also overseen twenty-six World Championship presentations, all recognizing Stephen Boudreau.

The Committee credits his leadership with ensuring that the institution has never been troubled by an unexpected change of champion.

An Interview with Sir Reginald P. Worthington III

Q: You’ve served as Chairman since 1987. Have you ever considered playing UNO yourself?

No.

Q: Wouldn’t firsthand experience of the game be useful in your position?

I should hope not. We are a governing body, not a games night.

Q: What do you consider your greatest contribution to the institution?

Continuity. You would be surprised how much disruption can be avoided by never changing the name on the paperwork.

Dr. Eleanor Van Der Berg

Director of Historical Records

OFFICIAL BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Eleanor Van Der Berg oversees the preservation, verification, and classification of the International UNO Hall of Champions’ historical records.

Her responsibilities include maintaining the championship archive, certifying competitive results, and ensuring that the official record accurately reflects events as they occurred.

Dr. Van Der Berg is widely respected for her meticulous attention to detail and her unwillingness to accept approximate figures when precise ones are available.

Her department maintains extensive documentation concerning the career of Stephen Boudreau, including a substantial collection of recreational defeats.

She has personally verified several results that reflect unfavorably upon the reigning champion.

She considers this evidence that the historical record is functioning correctly.

Alongside Sir Reginald P. Worthington III, Dr. Van Der Berg co-signs the Hall’s official Certificates of Recreational Victory.

She has occasionally corrected the Chairman during formal proceedings, most often concerning dates, match totals, or the precise number of times Mr. Boudreau has lost.

Sir Reginald has accepted these corrections graciously.

No championship determination has been affected.

Dr. Van Der Berg also oversees the Office of Statistical Reconciliation, which recently completed a comprehensive review of the Hall’s championship and recreational records. READ THE STATISTICAL REPORT

An Interview with Dr. Eleanor Van Der Berg

Q: Do the Hall’s records show that Stephen Boudreau has lost UNO games?

Yes.

Q: How often?

Which year?

Q: Would you describe Mr. Boudreau as an exceptional player?

That is not a historical question.

Q: Have you ever disagreed with a decision of the Championship Sanctioning Committee?

My responsibility is to establish what occurred. The Committee determines what it means.

I have occasionally found their conclusions surprising.

Q: Have you expressed those concerns?

They haven’t asked.

Harold “Harry” Feldman

Master of Ceremonies & Honorary Fellow of Recreational Innovation

OFFICIAL BIOGRAPHY

Harold “Harry” Feldman is an inventor, broadcaster, and longtime contributor to the advancement of recreational science.

His distinguished career began in radio broadcasting, where he developed a reputation for enthusiastic presentation and an unusually broad interest in subjects ranging from emerging technology to household recreation.

Mr. Feldman is credited with the invention of the Waterful Ringtoss, a self-contained water-based amusement device, and glow-in-the-dark pajamas, a development that represented an important breakthrough in nighttime garment visibility.

The latter invention emerged during what Mr. Feldman describes as an unexpected experimental discovery.

The Office of Historical Records has been unable to establish that an experiment was underway.

Mr. Feldman maintains that the distinction is largely academic.

As Master of Ceremonies, Mr. Feldman has presided over all twenty-six World Championship presentations recognizing Stephen Boudreau.

He approaches each ceremony with considerable enthusiasm.

Despite having announced the same recipient on every occasion, Mr. Feldman continues to insist that the winner’s name be placed in a sealed envelope prior to the presentation.

The Secretariat has questioned whether this is necessary.

Mr. Feldman considers it essential.

An Interview with Harold “Harry” Feldman

Q: You’ve announced the same World Champion twenty-six times. Is it difficult to maintain the excitement?

Oh, not at all! It’s tremendous! Every year I get up there, and there’s the envelope, and the audience is waiting, and I’m waiting, and then I open it, and wouldn’t you know it, it’s Stephen again!

Twenty-six times! What are the odds?

Q: Tell us about the Waterful Ringtoss.

Oh, marvelous little invention! Marvelous! No electricity! No batteries! Just water, buttons, and the extraordinary potential of pneumatic pressure!

People underestimate pneumatic pressure.

They really do.

Q: And your glow-in-the-dark pajamas?

Oh! Wonderful invention. Very proud of those. Very proud indeed.

Q: How did you discover the properties that made them glow?

Well, you see, the thing about invention is that sometimes the greatest discoveries happen when you least expect them!

Q: Were you wearing the pajamas at the time?

Now, have I told you about the Waterful Ringtoss?
